October 24, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 4115 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2246 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2797 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Wednesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Monster Beverage Corp (NASDAQ:MNST), Columbia Laboratories Inc (NASDAQ:CBRX), RF MICRO DEVICES, INC. (NASDAQ:RFMD), Spartech Corp (NYSE:SEH), Silicon Laboratories Inc (NASDAQ:SLAB), AMYRIS INC (NASDAQ:AMRS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  MNST $6.820 16.60% 6,700,942 52.66% 5,975,584 46.96% 725,358 1,064
  CBRX $0.140 14.24% 986,953 63.53% 566,577 36.47% 420,376 30,027
  RFMD $0.530 13.39% 16,115,624 51.62% 15,063,367 48.25% 1,052,257 19,854
  SEH $3.240 63.04% 4,424,652 31.40% 4,378,058 31.07% 46,594 144
  SLAB $4.920 13.63% 798,186 52.00% 725,053 47.23% 73,133 149
  AMRS $0.400 16.39% 396,695 55.13% 322,913 44.87% 73,782 1,845
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows MNST with a dollar gain Wednesday of $6.82000 and a Friction Factor of 1,064 shares. That means that it only took 1,064 more shares of buying than selling to move MNST higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
