September 26, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 4003 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1777 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3549 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Blyth Inc (NYSE:BTH), Dex One Corp (NYSE:DEXO), Parametric Sound Corp (NASDAQ:PAMT), Telestone Technologies Corp (NASDAQ:TSTC), Catalyst Pharmaceutical Partners Inc (NASDAQ:CPRX), Oncothyreon Inc (NASDAQ:ONTY). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  BTH $-6.830 -20.97% 1,657,983 34.91% 1,710,453 36.02% -52,470 -77
  DEXO $-0.140 -10.53% 419,739 37.56% 477,046 42.68% -57,307 -4,093
  PAMT $-0.810 -9.82% 32,345 30.30% 74,408 69.70% -42,063 -519
  TSTC $-0.360 -15.00% 48,580 30.89% 101,266 64.40% -52,686 -1,464
  CPRX $-0.240 -13.04% 2,421,040 49.55% 2,464,919 50.45% -43,879 -1,828
  ONTY $-0.590 -10.42% 652,490 38.74% 1,028,281 61.05% -375,791 -6,369
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows BTH with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-6.83000 and a Friction Factor of -77 shares. That means that it only took 77 more shares of selling than buying to move BTH lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
