September 25, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3723 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1739 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4112 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Jetblue Airways Corp (NASDAQ:JBLU), Sirius XM Radio Inc (NASDAQ:SIRI), Kraft Foods Inc (NYSE:KFT), Merrimack Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:MACK), Deltek Inc (NASDAQ:PROJ), Powershares Qqq Trust Series 1 (NASDAQ:QQQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction JBLU $-0.070 -1.41% 3,468,035 69.47% 1,521,973 30.49% 1,946,062 Abnormal SIRI $-0.040 -1.40% 35,416,279 53.42% 30,855,957 46.54% 4,560,322 Abnormal KFT $-0.310 -0.74% 11,008,793 54.14% 8,488,339 41.75% 2,520,454 Abnormal MACK $-2.020 -18.44% 4,876,239 66.03% 2,298,654 31.12% 2,577,585 Abnormal PROJ $-0.030 -0.23% 2,840,467 72.78% 1,061,898 27.21% 1,778,569 Abnormal QQQ $-0.880 -1.25% 21,787,619 54.03% 17,879,396 44.34% 3,908,223 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows JBLU with 1,946,062 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.07000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
