Market Maker Surveillance Report. OTT, PSDV, OWW, EZCH, PULS, ENPH, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Wednesday, Au

August 8, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 4185 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2590 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2625 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Otelco Inc (NASDAQ:OTT), pSivida Corp (NASDAQ:PSDV), Orbitz Worldwide Inc (NYSE:OWW), EZchip Semiconductor Ltd (NASDAQ:EZCH), Pulse Electronics Corp (NYSE:PULS), Enphase Energy Inc (NASDAQ:ENPH). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  OTT $-3.070 -41.60% 581,780 42.62% 764,335 55.99% -182,555 -595
  PSDV $-0.390 -18.66% 362,634 47.21% 401,979 52.33% -39,345 -1,009
  OWW $-1.190 -25.54% 524,307 32.13% 602,077 36.89% -77,770 -654
  EZCH $-9.700 -24.82% 1,938,996 47.83% 2,075,659 51.20% -136,663 -141
  PULS $-0.360 -19.46% 75,724 21.17% 146,419 40.93% -70,695 -1,964
  ENPH $-1.600 -23.99% 264,990 41.92% 363,467 57.50% -98,477 -615
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows OTT with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-3.07000 and a Friction Factor of -595 shares. That means that it only took 595 more shares of selling than buying to move OTT lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
