Market Maker Surveillance Report. ELN, GE, MYL, RF, NIHD, NWSA, Bearishly Biased Price Friction For Wednesday, August 8th 2012

August 8, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. On Wednesday there were 4185 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2590 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2625 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Elan Corporation PLC (NYSE:ELN), General Electric Co (NYSE:GE), Mylan Inc (NASDAQ:MYL), Regions Financial Corp (NYSE:RF), NII Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:NIHD), News Corp (NASDAQ:NWSA). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  ELN $-0.020 -0.14% 5,144,841 42.12% 3,743,858 30.65% 1,400,983 Abnormal
  GE $-0.060 -0.28% 12,264,044 38.36% 9,066,968 28.36% 3,197,076 Abnormal
  MYL $-0.060 -0.24% 3,137,402 64.02% 1,751,768 35.75% 1,385,634 Abnormal
  RF $-0.040 -0.57% 5,423,389 37.60% 3,807,373 26.40% 1,616,016 Abnormal
  NIHD $-0.050 -0.78% 5,431,949 56.94% 3,900,397 40.88% 1,531,552 Abnormal
  NWSA $-0.620 -2.60% 12,448,752 56.27% 8,505,509 38.45% 3,943,243 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Wednesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ELN with 1,400,983 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.02000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
