July 30, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3992 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2361 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2929 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Acura Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:ACUR), Sequenom Inc (NASDAQ:SQNM), TGC Industries Inc (NASDAQ:TGE), Ibio Inc (AMEX:IBIO), OCZ Technology Group Inc (NASDAQ:OCZ), (NYSE:DGAZ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  ACUR $-0.990 -32.14% 294,027 38.17% 475,806 61.77% -181,779 -1,836
  SQNM $-0.440 -13.75% 3,114,204 40.96% 4,488,298 59.03% -1,374,094 -31,229
  TGE $-1.520 -17.12% 216,653 47.01% 240,525 52.19% -23,872 -157
  IBIO $-0.200 -14.81% 219,687 25.82% 319,639 37.57% -99,952 -4,998
  OCZ $-1.400 -19.77% 8,714,549 47.27% 9,282,286 50.35% -567,737 -4,055
  DGAZ $-4.550 -18.30% 73,313 28.97% 90,960 35.94% -17,647 -39
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ACUR with a dollar loss Monday of $-0.99000 and a Friction Factor of -1,836 shares. That means that it only took 1,836 more shares of selling than buying to move ACUR lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
