July 13, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3715 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3928 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1562 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co (NYSE:GT), SUPERVALU Inc (NYSE:SVU), Tyson Foods Inc (NYSE:TSN), Dean Foods Co (NYSE:DF), Telefonica Brasil SA (NYSE:VIV), Firesteel Resources Inc (NASDAQ:FTR). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  GT $-0.020 -0.20% 5,218,714 45.39% 3,077,589 26.77% 2,141,125 Abnormal
  SVU $-0.320 -11.90% 12,679,113 31.28% 11,874,164 29.30% 804,949 Abnormal
  TSN $-0.110 -0.68% 2,504,976 42.43% 1,575,525 26.69% 929,451 Abnormal
  DF $-0.260 -1.76% 2,823,985 35.21% 2,025,763 25.26% 798,222 Abnormal
  VIV $-0.610 -2.49% 1,256,338 47.50% 520,616 19.68% 735,722 Abnormal
  FTR $-0.040 -1.01% 4,775,981 55.73% 3,777,901 44.09% 998,080 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Friday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows GT with 2,141,125 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.02000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
