July 13, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3715 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3928 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1562 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Friday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Nokia Oyj (NYSE:NOK), ON Semiconductor Corp (NASDAQ:ONNN), Xerox Corp (NYSE:XRX), Staples Inc (NASDAQ:SPLS), Alcatel Lucent SA (NYSE:ALU), Zynga Inc (NASDAQ:ZNGA). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  NOK $-0.060 -3.19% 6,786,201 31.57% 8,709,638 40.52% -1,923,437 -320,573
  ONNN $-0.020 -0.31% 2,082,775 42.21% 2,814,841 57.05% -732,066 -366,033
  XRX $-0.140 -1.89% 4,736,211 28.08% 5,984,898 35.48% -1,248,687 -89,192
  SPLS $-0.030 -0.24% 3,836,999 43.00% 4,625,567 51.84% -788,568 -262,856
  ALU $-0.050 -3.42% 7,286,453 33.39% 10,080,142 46.20% -2,793,689 -558,738
  ZNGA $-0.120 -2.39% 4,493,833 45.66% 5,340,430 54.27% -846,597 -70,550
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows NOK down $-0.06000 with a Friction Factor of -320,573 and a Net Volume of -1,923,437. That means that it takes 320,573 more shares of selling than buying to drop NOK by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
