June 26, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3802 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2713 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2659 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net buy volume on Tuesday and lowest price Friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Windstream Corp (NASDAQ:WIN), Sirius XM Radio Inc (NASDAQ:SIRI), REYNOLDS AMERICAN INC (NYSE:RAI), GENERAL GROWTH PROPERTIES (NYSE:GGP), LEXICON PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NASDAQ:LXRX), GENON ENERGY INC (NYSE:GEN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction WIN $0.160 1.64% 4,587,457 56.11% 3,578,231 43.77% 1,009,226 63,077 SIRI $0.010 0.83% 12,180,659 52.98% 10,807,908 47.01% 1,372,751 1,372,751 RAI $0.390 0.90% 2,346,840 63.65% 538,202 14.60% 1,808,638 46,375 GGP $0.120 0.70% 2,235,366 40.17% 1,187,736 21.34% 1,047,630 87,303 LXRX $0.320 16.41% 3,855,712 57.37% 2,862,471 42.59% 993,241 31,039 GEN $0.040 2.52% 3,825,611 50.59% 2,302,385 30.45% 1,523,226 380,807Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar gains (Change) and very low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows WIN with a Net Buy Volume of 1,009,226 shares and a Friction Factor of 63,077 shares. That means that it takes 63,077 more shares of buying than selling to move WIN higher by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to move up higher as of Tuesday (lower friction). And with one of the highest Net Buy Volumes, the combination of low friction and high net buy volume is bullish.
