June 26, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3802 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2713 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2659 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Nokia Oyj (NYSE:NOK), HALLIBURTON CO (NYSE:HAL), Total SA (NYSE:TOT), YAHOO! INC (NASDAQ:YHOO), BANCO SANTANDER BRASIL-ADS (NYSE:BSBR), (NASDAQ:ZNGA). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  NOK $-0.030 -1.37% 20,232,635 46.81% 13,874,547 32.10% 6,358,088 Abnormal
  HAL $-0.280 -1.04% 6,616,751 34.96% 5,548,006 29.31% 1,068,745 Abnormal
  TOT $-0.250 -0.58% 2,256,563 37.91% 1,154,274 19.39% 1,102,289 Abnormal
  YHOO $-0.080 -0.55% 6,761,552 49.91% 5,986,662 44.19% 774,890 Abnormal
  BSBR $-0.150 -1.93% 2,214,077 32.72% 1,424,540 21.05% 789,537 Abnormal
  ZNGA $-0.320 -5.19% 30,281,176 50.73% 29,396,971 49.25% 884,205 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows NOK with 6,358,088 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.03000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
