June 5, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3863 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3297 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2140 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. PFIZER INC (NYSE:PFE), PROCTER & GAMBLE CO/THE (NYSE:PG), AT&T INC (NYSE:T), SPRINT NEXTEL CORP (NYSE:S), FIRST HORIZON NATIONAL CORP (NYSE:FHN), ALCATEL-LUCENT-SPONSORED ADR (NYSE:ALU). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  PFE $-0.010 -0.05% 11,142,920 36.21% 7,402,648 24.06% 3,740,272 Abnormal
  PG $-0.280 -0.45% 2,994,846 38.27% 1,936,564 24.74% 1,058,282 Abnormal
  T $-0.090 -0.26% 8,378,066 34.40% 6,260,432 25.71% 2,117,634 Abnormal
  S $-0.020 -0.79% 11,958,016 30.38% 10,467,968 26.60% 1,490,048 Abnormal
  FHN $-0.060 -0.79% 3,350,547 32.85% 2,223,435 21.80% 1,127,112 Abnormal
  ALU $-0.020 -1.34% 3,492,170 44.19% 2,241,782 28.37% 1,250,388 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows PFE with 3,740,272 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.01000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
