May 30, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3446 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1327 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4703 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Wednesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Thomas Properties Group Inc (NASDAQ:TPGI), RAND CAPITAL CORP (NASDAQ:RAND), NEONODE INC (NASDAQ:NEON), VISTEON CORPORATION WTS 10/5/2015 (OTC:VSTOW), FRESH MARKET INC/THE (NASDAQ:TFM), ZOGENIX INC (NASDAQ:ZGNX). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  TPGI $0.750 18.52% 180,794 49.68% 177,778 48.85% 3,016 40
  RAND $0.460 16.49% 115,914 61.57% 71,350 37.90% 44,564 969
  NEON $1.270 26.57% 2,472,542 51.02% 2,356,311 48.62% 116,231 915
  VSTOW $0.713 22.62% 128,000 50.29% 126,000 49.51% 2,000 28
  TFM $7.290 14.92% 1,179,251 50.84% 1,038,577 44.78% 140,674 193
  ZGNX $0.250 15.72% 179,223 50.72% 172,986 48.95% 6,237 249
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows TPGI with a dollar gain Wednesday of $0.75000 and a Friction Factor of 40 shares. That means that it only took 40 more shares of buying than selling to move TPGI higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
