May 30, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3446 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1327 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4703 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. MAGAL SEC SYS LTD (NASDAQ:MAGS), Microvision Inc (NASDAQ:MVIS), Genetic Technologies Ltd (NASDAQ:GENE), SYNERGETICS USA, INC. (NASDAQ:SURG), IBIO INC (AMEX:IBIO), (NYSE:TEA). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction MAGS $-0.750 -16.48% 125,040 39.03% 170,840 53.32% -45,800 -611 MVIS $-0.680 -26.25% 650,706 45.09% 792,236 54.89% -141,530 -2,081 GENE $-0.740 -13.83% 390,809 45.00% 472,332 54.38% -81,523 -1,102 SURG $-1.480 -27.01% 268,331 49.37% 273,949 50.41% -5,618 -38 IBIO $-0.190 -15.70% 87,520 24.53% 138,056 38.69% -50,536 -2,660 TEA $-3.030 -18.02% 695,427 31.12% 844,650 37.80% -149,223 -492Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows MAGS with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-0.75000 and a Friction Factor of -611 shares. That means that it only took 611 more shares of selling than buying to move MAGS lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
