On Friday there were 3695 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1573 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4370 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction BSX $-0.100 -1.64% 10,438,805 35.41% 8,629,132 29.27% 1,809,673 Abnormal QCOM $-1.180 -2.06% 10,956,337 54.41% 8,988,174 44.64% 1,968,163 Abnormal MRK $-0.080 -0.21% 6,564,604 35.12% 3,937,612 21.07% 2,626,992 Abnormal CVS $-0.260 -0.58% 5,070,983 35.27% 3,251,350 22.61% 1,819,633 Abnormal WFC $-0.530 -1.69% 14,743,270 27.53% 10,409,910 19.44% 4,333,360 Abnormal MSFT $-0.520 -1.75% 32,952,195 58.65% 23,008,471 40.95% 9,943,724 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Friday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows BSX with 1,809,673 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.10000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
