May 9, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3802 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1891 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3898 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. Cost Plus Inc (NASDAQ:CPWM), TENET HEALTHCARE CORP (NYSE:THC), ALLOS THERAPEUTICS INC (NASDAQ:ALTH), CISCO SYSTEMS INCORPORATED (NASDAQ:CSCO), MICROSOFT CORPORATION (NASDAQ:MSFT), Ford Motor Co (NYSE:F). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  CPWM $3.900 21.70% 7,075,428 43.82% 9,048,737 56.04% -1,973,309 Abnormal
  THC $0.020 0.36% 2,886,599 20.27% 4,605,970 32.34% -1,719,371 Abnormal
  ALTH $0.010 0.55% 902,013 28.26% 2,289,836 71.74% -1,387,823 Abnormal
  CSCO $0.290 1.55% 29,852,387 46.61% 33,800,626 52.77% -3,948,239 Abnormal
  MSFT $0.080 0.26% 22,651,241 45.15% 27,086,618 53.99% -4,435,377 Abnormal
  F $0.080 0.75% 13,922,613 25.58% 16,165,094 29.70% -2,242,481 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Wednesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CPWM with 1,973,309 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $3.90000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
