Sun Media Corporation Acquires Pub Extra Magazine

MONTRÉAL, QUÉBEC--(Marketwire - May 1, 2012) - Sun Media Corporation, a subsidiary of Quebecor Media Inc., is pleased to announce the acquisition of Pub Extra magazine, which is distributed monthly to close to 190,000 homes on Montréal's North Shore.

Pub Extra is an advertising vehicle that carries discounts, promotional offers and contests from Montréal North Shore merchants. The magazine has been serving advertisers and the community for over 16 years and enjoys a high profile in its market. The addition of Pub Extra to Hebdos Régionaux Québecor Média's properties on the North Shore will improve Sun Media Corporation's coverage of the region.

Prior to the transaction, Pub Extra was owned by well-known local businessman Serge Cameron. Sun Media Corporation is pleased to welcome Mr. Cameron to the Hebdos Régionaux Québecor Média family and to announce his appointment as publisher of L'Écho de la Rive-Nord and L'Écho de St-Eustache, which have circulations of 66,000 and 58,200 respectively. Mr. Cameron will also continue to serve as publisher of Pub Extra.

"I am thrilled to be joining the Hebdos Régionaux Québecor Média team," said Serge Cameron. "This is an excellent opportunity and I look forward to being able to contribute my skills to continue developing close relationships with our business partners, while benefitting from the expertise of Sun Media Corporation, part of the Quebecor Media family."

The acquisition of Pub Extra is in keeping with Sun Media Corporation's decision to develop its solid network of community publications in Québec and to create new business opportunities for advertisers, while strengthening its position on Montréal's North Shore.

"We are pleased to have closed this transaction with Mr. Cameron, which secures the future of an important local business," said Lyne Robitaille, Executive Vice-President, Québec, Sun Media Corporation. "Serge Cameron is a well-known entrepreneur and experienced leader. He knows how to meet the customer's expectations and requirements. The organization will benefit from his expertise, skills and knowledge of the market, as will our readers and business partners."

Pub Extra will continue to be distributed monthly to nearly 190,000 Montréal North Shore households in the Le Sac Plus door-knob bag. Le Sac Plus distributes the Hebdos Régionaux Québecor Média's newspapers, advertisements, flyers, promotional brochures and other value-added promotions to more than 3 million homes across Quebec every week.
