Market Maker Surveillance Report. BVSN, AH, LNET, IDRA, CNIT, IPHI, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Wednesday, Ap
April 25, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3714 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3858 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1891 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. BROADVISION INC (NASDAQ:BVSN), ACCRETIVE HEALTH INC (NYSE:AH), LODGENET INTERACTIVE CORP (NASDAQ:LNET), IDERA PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NASDAQ:IDRA), China Information Tech Incorporated (NASDAQ:CNIT), INPHI CORPORATION (NYSE:IPHI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction BVSN $-5.860 -20.03% 360,705 40.84% 481,088 54.47% -120,383 -205 AH $-7.560 -40.89% 3,245,186 31.69% 3,281,856 32.05% -36,670 -49 LNET $-1.640 -37.44% 792,929 38.36% 1,259,879 60.95% -466,950 -2,847 IDRA $-0.310 -16.35% 71,415 46.78% 79,533 52.10% -8,118 -262 CNIT $-0.250 -16.03% 479,924 38.21% 775,647 61.76% -295,723 -11,829 IPHI $-3.890 -28.41% 767,390 24.89% 782,247 25.37% -14,857 -38Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows BVSN with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-5.86000 and a Friction Factor of -205 shares. That means that it only took 205 more shares of selling than buying to move BVSN lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
