Market Maker Surveillance Report. S, ICON, ENTR, VALE, HST, SEFE, Bearishly Biased Price Friction For Wednesday, April 25th 20
April 25, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3714 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3858 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1891 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. SPRINT NEXTEL CORP (NYSE:S), ICONIX BRAND GROUP INC (NASDAQ:ICON), Entropic Communications Inc (NASDAQ:ENTR), Vale SA (NYSE:VALE), HOST HOTELS & RESORTS INC (NYSE:HST), (OTCBB:SEFE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction S $-0.040 -1.62% 54,515,139 37.50% 41,578,115 28.60% 12,937,024 Abnormal ICON $-2.490 -14.65% 5,318,447 57.75% 3,587,006 38.95% 1,731,441 Abnormal ENTR $-0.500 -10.53% 4,071,420 55.09% 3,273,654 44.30% 797,766 Abnormal VALE $-0.290 -1.30% 5,545,567 32.51% 3,607,545 21.15% 1,938,022 Abnormal HST $-0.320 -1.91% 4,535,292 34.96% 3,686,329 28.41% 848,963 Abnormal SEFE $-0.620 -23.13% 10,225,722 45.08% 9,106,384 40.15% 1,119,338 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Wednesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows S with 12,937,024 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.04000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
