February 29, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3496 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2196 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3918 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. China Techfaith Wireless Communication Technology Ltd (NASDAQ:CNTF), GAIN Capital Holdings Inc (NYSE:GCAP), VOCUS INC (NASDAQ:VOCS), Spreadtrum Communications Inc (NASDAQ:SPRD), OXFORD RESOURCE PARTNERS LP (NYSE:OXF), (NYSE:USLV). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     CNTF $-0.580 -25.44% 659,743 43.01% 874,052 56.99% -214,309 -3,695
     GCAP $-1.250 -19.26% 86,761 27.69% 88,370 28.20% -1,609 -13
     VOCS $-9.010 -39.94% 2,805,360 48.07% 2,901,867 49.72% -96,507 -107
     SPRD $-2.870 -16.90% 2,882,281 47.65% 3,112,750 51.47% -230,469 -803
     OXF $-4.770 -34.32% 440,097 30.20% 592,754 40.67% -152,657 -320
     USLV $-11.880 -19.13% 358,521 19.54% 395,044 21.54% -36,523 -31
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CNTF with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-0.58000 and a Friction Factor of -3,695 shares. That means that it only took 3,695 more shares of selling than buying to move CNTF lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
