February 29, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3496 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2196 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3918 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Nokia Oyj (NYSE:NOK), QUALCOMM INC (NASDAQ:QCOM), MICROSOFT CORPORATION (NASDAQ:MSFT), STAPLES INC (NASDAQ:SPLS), Mueller Water Products Inc (NYSE:MWA), FRONTIER COMMUNICATIONS CORP (NYSE:FTR). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     NOK $-0.100 -1.86% 14,635,746 38.16% 11,545,092 30.10% 3,090,654 Abnormal
     QCOM $-0.350 -0.56% 7,673,734 54.89% 5,771,917 41.29% 1,901,817 Abnormal
     MSFT $-0.130 -0.41% 35,081,914 55.20% 28,434,088 44.74% 6,647,826 Abnormal
     SPLS $-1.450 -9.06% 23,287,865 54.13% 19,478,711 45.27% 3,809,154 Abnormal
     MWA $-0.030 -1.00% 4,908,963 70.43% 797,250 11.44% 4,111,713 Abnormal
     FTR $-0.050 -1.10% 13,142,847 56.85% 9,967,187 43.12% 3,175,660 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Wednesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows NOK with 3,090,654 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.10000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
