October 4, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4965 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2311 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3458 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. AC MOORE ARTS & CRAFTS INC (NASDAQ:ACMR), U.S. BANCORP (NYSE:USB), CISCO SYSTEMS INCORPORATED (NASDAQ:CSCO), TELEFONOS DE MEXICO-SP ADR L (NYSE:TMX), XEROX CORP (NYSE:XRX), ORACLE CORP (NASDAQ:ORCL). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction ACMR $0.570 60.00% 3,856,958 30.96% 8,601,617 69.04% -4,744,659 Abnormal USB $0.510 2.25% 7,760,686 22.59% 10,502,747 30.58% -2,742,061 Abnormal CSCO $0.390 2.57% 37,790,235 46.76% 44,088,745 54.55% -6,298,510 Abnormal TMX $0.030 0.20% 701,859 8.80% 5,307,289 66.52% -4,605,430 Abnormal XRX $0.290 4.32% 3,775,020 20.93% 5,809,637 32.21% -2,034,617 Abnormal ORCL $0.500 1.79% 24,773,287 49.25% 26,584,753 52.85% -1,811,466 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows ACMR with 4,744,659 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.57000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
