Market Maker Surveillance Report. KFT, MRK, DRYS, KGC, ALU, MNHVF, Bearishly Biased Price Friction For Tuesday, October 4th 20
October 4, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4965 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2311 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3458 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. KRAFT FOODS INC-CLASS A (NYSE:KFT), MERCK & CO. INC. (NYSE:MRK), DRYSHIPS INC (NASDAQ:DRYS), KINROSS GOLD CORP (NYSE:KGC), ALCATEL-LUCENT-SPONSORED ADR (NYSE:ALU), MARINE HARVEST (OTC:MNHVF). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction KFT $-0.220 -0.67% 6,973,533 34.09% 5,515,587 26.96% 1,457,946 Abnormal MRK $-0.200 -0.63% 8,128,205 28.29% 6,839,238 23.81% 1,288,967 Abnormal DRYS $-0.020 -0.99% 6,505,757 54.11% 5,348,665 44.49% 1,157,092 Abnormal KGC $-0.730 -5.15% 6,767,374 37.13% 4,674,858 25.65% 2,092,516 Abnormal ALU $-0.070 -2.89% 11,533,516 29.95% 9,709,942 25.22% 1,823,574 Abnormal MNHVF $-0.030 -7.32% 2,259,600 97.18% 65,500 2.82% 2,194,100 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows KFT with 1,457,946 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.22000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
