October 4, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4965 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2311 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3458 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Tuesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. HUDSON HIGHLAND GROUP INC (NASDAQ:HHGP), ENTRAVISION COMMUNICATIONS-A (NYSE:EVC), TRANSCEPT PHARMACEUTICALS IN (NASDAQ:TSPT), MELA SCIENCES INC (NASDAQ:MELA), OCEAN POWER TECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:OPTT), HILL INTERNATIONAL INC (NYSE:HIL). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     HHGP $0.840 27.27% 132,573 61.93% 73,192 34.19% 59,381 707
     EVC $0.370 42.05% 91,237 45.65% 57,743 28.89% 33,494 905
     TSPT $2.060 34.11% 1,050,845 56.54% 798,537 42.96% 252,308 1,225
     MELA $1.440 31.10% 2,115,038 54.21% 1,757,521 45.05% 357,517 2,483
     OPTT $0.620 26.05% 349,407 52.06% 321,587 47.92% 27,820 449
     HIL $1.480 34.34% 95,125 43.65% 43,295 19.86% 51,830 350
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows HHGP with a dollar gain Tuesday of $0.84000 and a Friction Factor of 707 shares. That means that it only took 707 more shares of buying than selling to move HHGP higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
