September 29, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 4257 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3158 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2696 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. PACIFIC SUNWEAR OF CALIF (NASDAQ:PSUN), BIODELIVERY SCIENCES INTL (NASDAQ:BDSI), EDAP TMS SA -ADR (NASDAQ:EDAP), NEW ORIENTAL EDUCATIO-SP ADR (NYSE:EDU), PETROBAKKEN ENERGY LTD-A (OTC:PBKEF), YOUKU.COM INC-SPON ADR (NYSE:YOKU). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     PSUN $-0.180 -13.24% 497,066 37.18% 837,749 62.66% -340,683 -18,927
     BDSI $-1.860 -60.78% 2,535,757 46.24% 2,836,297 51.72% -300,540 -1,616
     EDAP $-0.250 -12.69% 55,849 31.50% 120,973 68.24% -65,124 -2,605
     EDU $-3.220 -11.68% 1,616,439 32.90% 2,046,157 41.65% -429,718 -1,335
     PBKEF $-1.717 -21.63% 51,935 17.20% 69,678 23.08% -17,743 -103
     YOKU $-3.580 -18.01% 2,068,307 29.95% 2,392,866 34.65% -324,559 -907
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows PSUN with a dollar loss Thursday of $-0.18000 and a Friction Factor of -18,927 shares. That means that it only took 18,927 more shares of selling than buying to move PSUN lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
