September 28, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3753 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1388 companies with positive Friction Factors and 5114 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Wednesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. ALTAIR NANOTECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:ALTI), SYNNEX CORP (NYSE:SNX), CHINA GREEN AGRICULTURE INC (NYSE:CGA), CHINA INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTM (NASDAQ:CIIC), LIQUIDITY SERVICES INC (NASDAQ:LQDT), SYNERGY PHARMACEUTICALS INC (OTC:SGYP). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction ALTI $0.360 34.62% 895,696 53.33% 783,771 46.67% 111,925 3,109 SNX $2.350 9.43% 530,750 39.12% 315,037 23.22% 215,713 918 CGA $0.640 14.68% 52,487 32.37% 41,358 25.51% 11,129 174 CIIC $0.250 32.89% 160,405 72.41% 61,109 27.59% 99,296 3,972 LQDT $3.560 11.38% 623,595 55.49% 490,230 43.62% 133,365 375 SGYP $0.432 21.09% 94,884 35.20% 57,266 21.24% 37,618 870Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows ALTI with a dollar gain Wednesday of $0.36000 and a Friction Factor of 3,109 shares. That means that it only took 3,109 more shares of buying than selling to move ALTI higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
