September 2, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3925 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1646 companies with positive Friction Factors and 5003 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. SILVERCORP METALS INC (NYSE:SVM), VERENIUM CORP (NASDAQ:VRNM), PUDA COAL INC (OTC:PUDA), JINKOSOLAR HOLDING CO-ADR (NYSE:JKS), SEACOAST BANKING CORP/FL (NASDAQ:SBCF), STERLING FINL CORP/SPOKANE (NASDAQ:STSA). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     SVM $-0.910 -10.82% 6,437,681 31.98% 6,821,375 33.89% -383,694 -4,216
     VRNM $-0.340 -11.07% 89,893 30.71% 199,577 68.19% -109,684 -3,226
     PUDA $-1.217 -37.69% 160,694 8.53% 598,990 31.81% -438,296 -3,601
     JKS $-1.670 -10.64% 240,463 34.37% 266,529 38.09% -26,066 -156
     SBCF $-0.170 -10.63% 109,519 42.24% 149,763 57.76% -40,244 -2,367
     STSA $-1.540 -10.75% 36,227 42.19% 49,632 57.81% -13,405 -87
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows SVM with a dollar loss Friday of $-0.91000 and a Friction Factor of -4,216 shares. That means that it only took 4,216 more shares of selling than buying to move SVM lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
