September 1, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 4184 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2211 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4002 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. LIQUIDITY SERVICES INC (NASDAQ:LQDT), AGRIA CORP - ADR (NYSE:GRO), CAREVIEW COMMUNICATIONS INC (OTC:CRVW), Wowjoint Holdings Limited - Common Shares (NASDAQ:BWOW), AMBASE CORP (OTC:ABCP), CIENA CORP (NASDAQ:CIEN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     LQDT $7.300 30.42% 1,654,922 51.84% 1,491,084 46.71% 163,838 224
     GRO $0.170 14.05% 223,961 41.65% 174,499 32.45% 49,462 2,910
     CRVW $0.190 13.19% 83,475 74.48% 28,300 25.25% 55,175 2,904
     BWOW $0.430 34.96% 318,366 55.92% 247,743 43.52% 70,623 1,642
     ABCP $0.960 309.68% 652,548 26.35% 372,150 15.03% 280,398 2,921
     CIEN $2.480 20.26% 14,865,488 50.13% 14,692,301 49.55% 173,187 698
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows LQDT with a dollar gain Thursday of $7.30000 and a Friction Factor of 224 shares. That means that it only took 224 more shares of buying than selling to move LQDT higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
