September 2, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3925 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1646 companies with positive Friction Factors and 5003 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. GOLD FIELDS LTD-SPONS ADR (NYSE:GFI), COMPETITIVE COS INC (OTC:CCOP), (OTC:NHSH), FINISAR CORPORATION (NASDAQ:FNSR), NOVELLUS SYSTEMS INC (NASDAQ:NVLS), SUPERVALU INC (NYSE:SVU). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     GFI $0.140 0.84% 978,836 24.21% 1,254,422 31.03% -275,586 Abnormal
     CCOP $0.012 190.32% 315,833 15.27% 1,752,334 84.73% -1,436,501 Abnormal
     NHSH $0.015 59.20% 123,000 24.40% 381,190 75.60% -258,190 Abnormal
     FNSR $1.610 8.66% 10,969,709 49.06% 11,214,359 50.15% -244,650 Abnormal
     NVLS $0.130 0.47% 1,156,855 44.00% 1,448,738 55.10% -291,883 Abnormal
     SVU $0.020 0.31% 1,753,125 30.79% 2,251,488 39.54% -498,363 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Friday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows GFI with 275,586 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.14000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
