August 29, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3737 companies with "abnormal" market making, 5632 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1874 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Monday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. MILLER ENERGY RESOURCES INC (NYSE:MILL), CENTRAL EURO DISTRIBUTION CP (NASDAQ:CEDC), COFFEE HOLDING CO INC (NASDAQ:JVA), NETWORK EQUIPMENT TECH INC (NASDAQ:NWK), VENOCO INC (NYSE:VQ), STAR SCIENTIFIC INC (NASDAQ:CIGX). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction MILL $1.380 60.79% 1,376,734 34.96% 1,079,754 27.42% 296,980 2,152 CEDC $2.680 48.99% 5,350,267 54.88% 4,364,637 44.77% 985,630 3,678 JVA $3.550 22.40% 949,860 54.68% 776,800 44.72% 173,060 487 NWK $0.540 26.47% 121,187 66.66% 60,610 33.34% 60,577 1,122 VQ $2.780 30.96% 1,068,817 34.66% 971,615 31.51% 97,202 350 CIGX $0.780 43.09% 5,213,583 54.68% 4,310,493 45.20% 903,090 11,578Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows MILL with a dollar gain Monday of $1.38000 and a Friction Factor of 2,152 shares. That means that it only took 2,152 more shares of buying than selling to move MILL higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
