August 29, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3737 companies with "abnormal" market making, 5632 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1874 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. COMCAST CORP-CLASS A (NASDAQ:CMCSA), GERDAU SA -SPON ADR (NYSE:GGB), INTEL CORP (NASDAQ:INTC), CENTERPOINT ENERGY INC (NYSE:CNP), NORTHGATE MINERALS CORP (AMEX:NXG), AMERICAN EAGLE OUTFITTERS (NYSE:AEO). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     CMCSA $0.490 2.38% 5,603,976 44.60% 6,876,060 54.72% -1,272,084 Abnormal
     GGB $0.280 3.39% 2,278,799 22.63% 4,706,254 46.74% -2,427,455 Abnormal
     INTC $0.540 2.73% 18,727,234 43.97% 23,775,128 55.83% -5,047,894 Abnormal
     CNP $0.280 1.43% 1,234,678 22.89% 2,536,303 47.03% -1,301,625 Abnormal
     NXG $0.870 27.62% 9,137,611 23.99% 15,992,325 41.99% -6,854,714 Abnormal
     AEO $0.520 5.01% 1,134,797 20.99% 2,846,641 52.66% -1,711,844 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Monday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CMCSA with 1,272,084 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.49000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
