August 23, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3686 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4942 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2006 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. DUKE ENERGY CORP (NYSE:DUK), BANCO BRADESCO-ADR (NYSE:BBD), COMCAST CORP-CLASS A (NASDAQ:CMCSA), DELL INC (NASDAQ:DELL), TIME WARNER INC (NYSE:TWX), AMKOR TECHNOLOGY INC (NASDAQ:AMKR). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     DUK $0.050 0.26% 5,166,822 24.56% 8,466,359 40.24% -3,299,537 Abnormal
     BBD $0.180 1.09% 3,069,095 24.07% 4,608,257 36.14% -1,539,162 Abnormal
     CMCSA $0.280 1.42% 12,131,129 45.14% 14,557,616 54.17% -2,426,487 Abnormal
     DELL $0.660 4.71% 13,970,716 46.66% 15,887,965 53.07% -1,917,249 Abnormal
     TWX $0.600 2.15% 3,270,119 22.79% 5,115,278 35.65% -1,845,159 Abnormal
     AMKR $0.150 3.87% 1,715,902 24.52% 5,271,445 75.34% -3,555,543 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows DUK with 3,299,537 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.05000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
