August 23, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3686 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4942 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2006 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. USA TRUCK INC (NASDAQ:USAK), SINO-FOREST CORP (OTC:SNOFF), ORSUS XELENT TECHNOLOGIES IN (AMEX:ORS), PROSHARES ULTRAPRO SHORT QQQ (NASDAQ:SQQQ), MOTRICITY INC (NASDAQ:MOTR), (AMEX:XG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     USAK $-3.250 -29.68% 241,587 38.45% 384,455 61.19% -142,868 -440
     SNOFF $-0.430 -8.45% 135,699 25.65% 179,813 33.99% -44,114 -1,026
     ORS $-0.230 -10.50% 32,146 27.60% 35,879 30.81% -3,733 -162
     SQQQ $-4.010 -12.32% 1,320,403 48.19% 1,416,239 51.68% -95,836 -239
     MOTR $-0.220 -9.81% 1,528,797 49.06% 1,577,579 50.63% -48,782 -2,217
     XG $-1.020 -9.33% 106,103 32.85% 115,766 35.85% -9,663 -95
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows USAK with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-3.25000 and a Friction Factor of -440 shares. That means that it only took 440 more shares of selling than buying to move USAK lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
