Market Maker Surveillance Report. PFE, LOW, MSFT, GEN, QQQ, POTG, Bullishly Biased Price Friction For Tuesday, June 28th 2011
June 28, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4129 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4405 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2280 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. PFIZER INC (NYSE:PFE), LOWE'S COS INC (NYSE:LOW), MICROSOFT CORP (NASDAQ:MSFT), GENON ENERGY INC (NYSE:GEN), (NASDAQ:QQQ), (OTC:POTG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction PFE $0.380 1.88% 8,712,327 21.25% 11,574,461 28.23% -2,862,134 Abnormal LOW $0.310 1.36% 3,928,100 27.12% 5,500,084 37.97% -1,571,984 Abnormal MSFT $0.580 2.30% 38,353,861 47.38% 39,803,286 49.17% -1,449,425 Abnormal GEN $0.070 1.88% 1,950,442 25.01% 3,585,143 45.97% -1,634,701 Abnormal QQQ $0.930 1.67% 20,135,997 41.99% 26,750,527 55.78% -6,614,530 Abnormal POTG $0.125 16.89% 13,419,779 31.27% 27,062,183 63.06% -13,642,404 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows PFE with 2,862,134 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.38000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
