February 14, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 2551 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2783 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2384 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Monday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. MAJESCO ENTERTAINMENT CO (NASDAQ:COOL), LIMELIGHT NETWORKS INC (NASDAQ:LLNW), RAND LOGISTICS INC (NASDAQ:RLOG), BIDZ.COM INC (NASDAQ:BIDZ), TIANYIN PHARMACEUTICAL CO IN (AMEX:TPI), SNAP INTERACTIVE INC (OTCBB:STVI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction COOL $0.230 18.25% 954,191 59.78% 620,815 38.89% 333,376 14,495 LLNW $1.030 17.17% 3,493,851 56.62% 2,672,465 43.31% 821,386 7,975 RLOG $1.060 20.04% 114,861 58.49% 72,875 37.11% 41,986 396 BIDZ $0.270 17.76% 532,900 51.71% 499,821 48.50% 33,079 1,225 TPI $0.650 25.10% 590,752 53.51% 413,443 37.45% 177,309 2,728 STVI $0.820 25.23% 236,214 44.54% 146,213 27.57% 90,001 1,098
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows STVI with a dollar gain Monday of $0.82000 and a Friction Factor of 1,098 shares. That means that it only took 1,098 more shares of buying than selling to move STVI higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
