Market Maker Surveillance Report. EMKR, CBM, IVD, INPH, ECGI, GGOX, Winning Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Friday, Febr
February 11, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 2503 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3496 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1784 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Friday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. EMCORE CORP (NASDAQ:EMKR), CAMBREX CORP (NYSE:CBM), IVAX DIAGNOSTICS INC (AMEX:IVD), INTERPHASE CORP (NASDAQ:INPH), ENVOY CAPITAL GROUP INC (NASDAQ:ECGI), GIGOPTIX INC (OTCBB:GGOX). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction EMKR $0.390 20.42% 4,843,855 56.99% 3,555,117 41.83% 1,288,738 33,045 CBM $0.900 17.82% 167,719 49.65% 132,480 39.22% 35,239 392 IVD $0.470 45.63% 559,931 51.96% 465,326 43.18% 94,605 2,013 INPH $2.070 103.50% 1,585,003 54.68% 1,285,038 44.33% 299,965 1,449 ECGI $0.260 19.27% 73,154 69.57% 31,797 30.24% 41,357 1,591 GGOX $0.600 21.82% 103,227 56.17% 77,780 42.32% 25,447 424
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows GGOX with a dollar gain Friday of $0.60000 and a Friction Factor of 424 shares. That means that it only took 424 more shares of buying than selling to move GGOX higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
