February 14, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 2551 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2783 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2384 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. AXT INC (NASDAQ:AXTI), RURAL/METRO CORP (NASDAQ:RURL), CHINA PRECISION STEEL INC (NASDAQ:CPSL), GATEWAY INDUSTRIES INC (OTC:GWAY), EXPRESS-1 EXPEDITED SOLUTION (AMEX:XPO), COMMUNITY BANKERS TRUST CORP (AMEX:BTC). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     AXTI $-1.600 -14.26% 915,600 39.74% 1,362,881 59.16% -447,281 -2,796
     RURL $-1.960 -12.49% 100,613 44.64% 124,064 55.05% -23,451 -120
     CPSL $-0.330 -15.21% 1,763,931 44.06% 2,239,296 55.93% -475,365 -14,405
     GWAY $-1.050 -36.84% 113,149 16.76% 125,420 18.57% -12,271 -117
     XPO $-0.410 -15.24% 535,578 38.40% 758,619 54.39% -223,041 -5,440
     BTC $-0.220 -14.72% 32,067 39.51% 41,205 50.77% -9,138 -415

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows BTC with a dollar loss Monday of $-0.22000 and a Friction Factor of -415 shares. That means that it only took 415 more shares of selling than buying to move BTC lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
