December 8, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2704 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2154 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3078 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. US NATURAL GAS FUND LP (NYSE:UNG), ATMEL CORP (NASDAQ:ATML), INTEL CORP (NASDAQ:INTC), LOWE'S COS INC (NYSE:LOW), NOKIA CORP-SPON ADR (NYSE:NOK), ISHARES RUSSELL 2000 (NYSE:IWM). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     UNG $0.260 4.29% 16,852,196 47.72% 19,086,780 54.05% -2,234,584 Abnormal
     ATML $0.060 0.52% 5,016,393 42.58% 6,765,526 57.42% -1,749,133 Abnormal
     INTC $0.250 1.14% 33,500,387 48.20% 35,985,187 51.78% -2,484,800 Abnormal
     LOW $0.510 2.03% 6,450,135 35.37% 9,287,463 50.93% -2,837,328 Abnormal
     NOK $0.030 0.26% 6,532,606 32.91% 11,816,526 59.54% -5,283,920 Abnormal
     IWM $0.080 0.10% 17,809,175 46.80% 19,553,889 51.39% -1,744,714 Abnormal

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Wednesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows IWM with 1,744,714 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.08000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
