Market Maker Surveillance Report. SOLR, OREX, STRM, ALXA, FCEC, TASR, Winning Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Wednesday,
December 8, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2704 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2154 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3078 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Wednesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. GT SOLAR INTERNATIONAL INC (NASDAQ:SOLR), OREXIGEN THERAPEUTICS INC (NASDAQ:OREX), STREAMLINE HEALTH SOLUTIONS (NASDAQ:STRM), ALEXZA PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NASDAQ:ALXA), FIRST CHESTER COUNTY CORP (NASDAQ:FCEC), TASER INTERNATIONAL INC (NASDAQ:TASR). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction SOLR $1.610 20.43% 5,854,836 55.83% 4,610,397 43.96% 1,244,439 7,729 OREX $3.870 81.30% 14,746,413 49.41% 14,696,747 49.24% 49,666 128 STRM $0.270 18.00% 75,964 52.07% 59,468 40.76% 16,496 611 ALXA $0.270 27.89% 2,547,667 61.63% 1,586,410 38.37% 961,257 35,602 FCEC $1.270 20.32% 177,863 50.69% 169,428 48.29% 8,435 66 TASR $0.820 20.05% 1,854,817 56.63% 1,416,300 43.24% 438,517 5,348
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows TASR with a dollar gain Wednesday of $0.82000 and a Friction Factor of 5,348 shares. That means that it only took 5,348 more shares of buying than selling to move TASR higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
