December 2, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2435 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3663 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1993 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. USSE CORP (OTC:UCRP), Washington Mutual De (OTC:WAMKQ), LOCAL.COM CORP (NASDAQ:LOCM), CONN'S INC (NASDAQ:CONN), WIMM-BILL-DANN FOODS-ADR (NYSE:WBD), REDIFF.COM INDIA LIMITED-ADR (NASDAQ:REDF). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     UCRP $0.023 31.94% 342,450 60.09% 227,401 39.91% 115,049 50,021
     WAMKQ $0.165 55.93% 98,323 46.81% 60,224 28.67% 38,099 2,309
     LOCM $1.140 28.79% 1,756,493 61.79% 1,073,593 37.77% 682,900 5,990
     CONN $1.320 40.87% 687,627 53.86% 580,005 45.43% 107,622 815
     WBD $6.800 27.76% 3,695,490 46.00% 3,452,052 42.97% 243,438 358
     REDF $0.770 19.85% 1,514,498 51.41% 1,376,062 46.71% 138,436 1,798

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows REDF with a dollar gain Thursday of $0.77000 and a Friction Factor of 1,798 shares. That means that it only took 1,798 more shares of buying than selling to move REDF higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
