Market Maker Surveillance Report. MONT, CHBU, CISG, CLWR, BIOF, MGN, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Thursday, De
December 2, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2435 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3663 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1993 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. MONSTER OFFERS (OTCBB:MONT), CHINA AGRI-BUSINESS INC (OTCBB:CHBU), CNINSURE INC-ADR (NASDAQ:CISG), CLEARWIRE CORP-CLASS A (NASDAQ:CLWR), BIOFUEL ENERGY CORP (NASDAQ:BIOF), MINES MANAGEMENT INC (AMEX:MGN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction MONT $-0.130 -9.92% 55,794 24.31% 71,599 31.20% -15,805 -1,216 CHBU $-0.350 -17.50% 86,828 43.54% 106,206 53.25% -19,378 -554 CISG $-3.550 -16.03% 3,176,699 46.40% 3,508,324 51.25% -331,625 -934 CLWR $-0.820 -12.02% 6,866,058 46.88% 7,667,087 52.35% -801,029 -9,769 BIOF $-0.170 -10.30% 130,003 32.13% 274,635 67.87% -144,632 -8,508 MGN $-0.290 -9.29% 106,096 34.29% 184,516 59.64% -78,420 -2,704
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows MGN with a dollar loss Thursday of $-0.29000 and a Friction Factor of -2,704 shares. That means that it only took 2,704 more shares of selling than buying to move MGN lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
