November 24, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2409 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4003 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1486 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. MARSHALL & ILSLEY CORP (NYSE:MI), ZWEIG TOTAL RETURN FUND INC (NYSE:ZTR), BANK OF IRELAND-SPONS ADR (NYSE:IRE), HEWLETT-PACKARD CO (NYSE:HPQ), SYNOVUS FINANCIAL CORP (NYSE:SNV), DEERE & CO (NYSE:DE). To access Friction Factor, Naked Short Data and SqueezeTrigger Prices on all stocks please visit http://www.buyins.net .

Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     MI $-0.050 -1.07% 5,697,504 49.63% 4,820,377 41.99% 877,127 Abnormal
     ZTR $-0.080 -2.14% 1,115,378 61.20% 595,830 32.69% 519,548 Abnormal
     IRE $-0.070 -4.12% 38,846,985 49.32% 36,079,335 45.81% 2,767,650 Abnormal
     HPQ $-0.450 -1.03% 12,881,719 46.54% 12,313,293 44.49% 568,426 Abnormal
     SNV $-0.020 -1.00% 4,733,536 49.75% 4,136,909 43.48% 596,627 Abnormal
     DE $-0.090 -0.12% 3,937,608 46.66% 3,449,170 40.88% 488,438 Abnormal

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Wednesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows DE with 488,438 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.09000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
