BRUSSELS, BELGIUM--(Marketwire - November 3, 2009) - WABCO Holdings Inc. (NYSE: [ WBC ]) [[ www.wabco-auto.com ]], a global technology leader and tier-one supplier to the commercial vehicle industry, today announced that WABCO's new OptiDrive™ system, a breakthrough in transmission automation technology, has been named a finalist for the 2010 Automotive News PACE™ Awards, the automotive industry's benchmark for innovation.

WABCO's OptiDrive system, a modular automated manual transmission system for medium and heavy duty commercial vehicles, continues the company's 20-year track record of technology leadership in transmission automation. Its high degree of modularity significantly reduces the development time required for application to transmission and vehicle platforms, enabling faster time to market for manufacturers of trucks, buses and transmissions.

By optimizing gear shifting, WABCO's OptiDrive system improves vehicle control and safety while enhancing the driver's effectiveness. It also significantly contributes to decreased fuel consumption and reduced maintenance cost for the vehicle's powertrain while increasing vehicle efficiency and environmental protection.

Jointly presented by Ernst & Young, the Transportation Research Center and Automotive News, the Automotive News PACE Awards recognize premiere automotive suppliers' contribution to excellence as it relates to the manufacture and sales of cars or commercial vehicles. 2010 award winners will be announced on April 12, 2010 in Detroit, Michigan.

"Everyone at WABCO takes great pride in having achieved this level of recognition for our OptiDrive system, one of the most creatively engineered products in our portfolio," said Jacques Esculier, WABCO Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "The judges of the Automotive News PACE Awards look for game-changing innovations that offer identifiable practical benefits and competitive advantages in our industry's commerce. Our OptiDrive system exemplifies WABCO's passion for innovation as we strive to grow demand for automated manual transmissions worldwide, particularly in emerging markets like China, India, Brazil and Russia where adoption of such systems is expected to expand rapidly."
