  • The Dow Jones gained 0.07 per cent to close at 43,325.80. The S&P 500 declined 0.04 per cent to 6,037.60 and the Nasdaq declined 0.05 per cent to close at 20,020.36 in the previous trading session. In the Asian markets, China and Japan were trading in green while Jakarta, Bangkok, Seoul and Hong Kong were trading in red.

The Indian stock market opened with gains on the day the nation paid homage to Dr. Manmohan Singh, a former Prime Minister known for his economic reforms. The Sensex and Nifty both saw positive movements, with the Sensex rising by 150 points to 60,353.27 and the Nifty increasing by 40 points to 17,992.15. This upward trend was influenced by positive global cues, particularly from the U.S. where markets reacted to a lower-than-expected inflation rate, suggesting a potential pause in Federal Reserve rate hikes. Sectors like IT, metals, and pharmaceuticals led the gains, while there was some profit booking in banking stocks. Additionally, the market was also reacting to the anticipation of upcoming corporate earnings and economic data releases.
