Investor allocations to US equities at record high, to cash at record low, BofA says
Published on 2024-12-17 21:21:08 - Reuters
- Investor allocations to U.S. equities has hit a record high this month, at the expense of European stocks, commodities and cash, according to a December survey from BofA Global Research.
According to a Reuters article published on December 17, 2024, Bank of America's global fund manager survey indicates that investor allocations to U.S. equities have reached a record high, while cash levels are at a record low. The survey, which polled 227 fund managers with $608 billion in assets under management, shows that investors are increasingly optimistic about the U.S. economy, with expectations of a soft landing rather than a recession. This optimism is reflected in the highest overweight position in U.S. stocks since November 2021. Conversely, allocations to cash have dropped to their lowest since June 2021, suggesting a significant shift towards riskier assets. Additionally, the survey highlighted a growing interest in commodities, particularly oil and gold, as inflation hedges, and a notable increase in investments in technology and AI sectors. However, concerns about geopolitical risks and potential policy errors by central banks remain, although these are somewhat overshadowed by the bullish market sentiment.
