Boeing to Lay off Nearly 400 Employees in Washington State, WARN Notice Shows
- (Reuters) - Boeing is laying off about 396 employees at various locations in Washington State, a worker adjustment and retraining notification showed on Monday. The layoffs are a part of a wider job cut that the planemaker had announced in October, which is expected to impact about 17,000 workers in total.
Boeing is set to lay off nearly 400 employees in Washington state, as indicated by a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice. The layoffs, which will affect 391 workers, are part of the company's ongoing efforts to streamline operations and reduce costs. The affected employees are primarily from the company's commercial airplanes division. This move comes amidst broader industry challenges, including supply chain disruptions and a slow recovery in air travel demand. The layoffs are scheduled to begin in January 2024, and the company has stated that it will provide support to the impacted workers, including severance packages and job placement assistance.
