- HKDPB announces key findings of "Hongkongers' Sense of Security on Savings" Survey for the seventh consecutive year
The Hong Kong Deposit Protection Board (HKDPB) has released the findings of its seventh consecutive survey on Hong Kong residents' sense of security regarding their savings. Conducted between November 2023 and January 2024, the survey revealed that 92% of respondents feel secure about their savings, with 62% citing the Deposit Protection Scheme (DPS) as a significant factor in their sense of security. Awareness of the DPS remains high at 90%, with 87% understanding its coverage. The survey also highlighted that 77% of respondents are aware of the maximum protection limit of HK$500,000 per depositor per bank. Additionally, the HKDPB noted an increase in the use of digital banking, with 70% of respondents using online banking services, and a growing interest in financial education, with 65% expressing a desire for more information on deposit protection. The findings underscore the importance of the DPS in fostering financial stability and confidence among Hong Kong residents.
