May 26, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 5539 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2815 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2782 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. iShares Russell 2000 Index Fund (NYSE:IWM), CIT Group Inc. (NYSE:CIT), Janus Capital Group Inc. (NYSE:JNS), Noble Energy Inc. (NYSE:NBL), ALPS ALERIAN MLP ETF (NYSE:AMLP), Independence Realty Trust Inc. (NYSE:IRT). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  IWM $-0.210 -0.00% 6,693,147 34.05% 4,769,616 24.27% 1,923,531 Abnormal
  CIT $-1.190 -0.03% 3,615,055 35.04% 1,427,099 13.83% 2,187,956 Abnormal
  JNS $-0.150 -0.01% 30,208,945 46.66% 6,424,642 9.92% 23,784,303 Abnormal
  NBL $-0.280 -0.01% 5,399,454 60.16% 1,298,412 14.47% 4,101,042 Abnormal
  AMLP $-0.010 -0.00% 3,999,253 53.82% 1,936,645 26.06% 2,062,608 Abnormal
  IRT $-0.110 -0.01% 6,025,367 43.24% 2,426,912 17.42% 3,598,455 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Friday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows IWM with 1,923,531 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.21000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
