May 23, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 5452 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2951 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2995 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. General Motors Company (NYSE:GM), Bank of America Corporation (NYSE:BAC), Santander Consumer USA Holdings Inc. (NYSE:SC), Tim Participacoes SA (NYSE:TSU), Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), American Realty Capital Properties Inc. (NYSE:VER). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  GM $0.300 0.01% 4,354,476 21.49% 7,733,786 38.17% -3,379,310 Abnormal
  BAC $0.360 0.02% 24,146,258 29.97% 29,866,118 37.07% -5,719,860 Abnormal
  SC $0.050 0.00% 743,510 14.15% 3,320,005 63.17% -2,576,495 Abnormal
  TSU $0.210 0.02% 269,805 6.62% 3,079,356 75.50% -2,809,551 Abnormal
  MSFT $0.150 0.00% 4,437,724 28.90% 6,639,591 43.23% -2,201,867 Abnormal
  VER $0.210 0.03% 7,054,639 27.64% 10,462,367 41.00% -3,407,728 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows GM with 3,379,310 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.30000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
