May 17, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 4777 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1529 companies with positive Friction Factors and 5140 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. iShares Dow Jones U.S. Real Estate Index Fund (NYSE:IYR), iShares Barclays 7-10 Year Treasury (NYSE:IEF), Arbutus Biopharma Corp (NASDAQ:ABUS), Opko Health Inc. (NASDAQ:OPK), PowerShares Exchange-Traded Fund Trust II (NYSE:UVXY), American Realty Capital Properties Inc. (NYSE:VER). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  IYR $0.410 0.01% 2,139,478 25.83% 3,389,819 40.93% -1,250,341 Abnormal
  IEF $0.850 0.01% 1,004,476 18.80% 3,043,926 56.97% -2,039,450 Abnormal
  ABUS $0.100 0.03% 312,920 17.05% 1,226,929 66.86% -914,009 Abnormal
  OPK $0.040 0.01% 2,086,812 30.46% 2,974,195 43.41% -887,383 Abnormal
  UVXY $4.350 0.37% 25,444,821 28.85% 26,415,653 29.95% -970,832 Abnormal
  VER $0.040 0.01% 2,357,525 28.42% 4,357,500 52.52% -1,999,975 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Wednesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows IYR with 1,250,341 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.41000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
