May 15, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 5448 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3985 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1984 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Southwestern Energy Co. (NYSE:SWN), Micron Technology Inc. (NASDAQ:MU), Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), Macy's Inc. (NYSE:M), Barclays Bank iPath Exch Traded Nts 2009-30.1.19 iPath S&P 500 VIX Short Term Futures Ser A (NYSE:VXX), Lantheus Holdings (NASDAQ:LNTH). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  SWN $-0.330 -0.04% 9,413,820 40.86% 7,426,285 32.23% 1,987,535 Abnormal
  MU $-0.120 -0.00% 12,882,875 59.08% 5,102,058 23.40% 7,780,817 Abnormal
  AAPL $-0.480 -0.00% 10,858,476 42.23% 7,234,143 28.14% 3,624,333 Abnormal
  M $-0.150 -0.01% 8,064,939 37.18% 5,940,942 27.39% 2,123,997 Abnormal
  VXX $-0.280 -0.02% 14,040,086 33.85% 12,644,551 30.49% 1,395,535 Abnormal
  LNTH $-0.050 -0.00% 3,012,719 68.73% 884,307 20.17% 2,128,412 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Monday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows SWN with 1,987,535 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.33000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
